The Heart Behind The Work

Ravyn McGinnis

Resilience Reclaimed Foundation, Inc.

Hi! I’m Ravyn McGinnis, a mom of two, a full-time Master of Social Work student at the University of Texas at Arlington, and the founder and executive director of Resilience Reclaimed Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Huntsville, Texas.

First and foremost, I’m a mom to two amazing kids, Jaxon and Amelia, who are a huge part of my world and one of my greatest motivations. Between motherhood, graduate school, building a nonprofit, and everyday responsibilities, life can get pretty chaotic! But I genuinely love being able to pursue something I’m passionate about while raising my children.

I’m also a survivor of domestic violence, abuse, and trauma, and I grew up navigating the foster care system, including time spent in foster homes and group homes. My experiences throughout childhood and adulthood have significantly shaped my perspective, my passion for advocacy, and the direction I’ve chosen for my life.

Through Resilience Reclaimed Foundation, I’m working to create a more connected and compassionate community by helping individuals and families navigate resources related to domestic violence, mental health, housing instability, food insecurity, addiction recovery, veterans’ needs, and other challenging circumstances.

Outside of motherhood, school, and nonprofit work, I’m a very creative, nature-loving person. I love drawing, painting, and creating things, whether that’s bringing an idea to life or simply making something because it makes me happy.

I also love trail walking, hiking, spending time outdoors, and animals. There’s something about being surrounded by nature that helps me reconnect with myself when life gets overwhelming. I’m passionate about personal growth, meaningful connections, mental health, and finding beauty in things that others might overlook.

I love learning, exploring new ideas, and finding creative ways to make a difference. I’m still learning, healing, growing, and figuring things out myself. I don’t have everything perfectly balanced, and I don’t pretend to. I’m simply someone who has experienced a lot, cares deeply about people, and wants to use what I’ve learned to create something meaningful for my children and my community.

How did you get started?

Resilience Reclaimed Foundation was inspired by both my lived experiences and my professional background in community outreach and advocacy. I grew up in the foster care system, spending time in foster homes and group homes, and I’m also a survivor of domestic violence and other forms of abuse and trauma throughout my life. Those experiences gave me a firsthand understanding of how difficult it can be to find safety, stability, and support when you need it most.

Through my professional work, I began recognizing many of those same gaps from a different perspective. I saw how often individuals and families struggled to navigate scattered resources, access services, or simply find someone willing to help them figure out where to start.

I founded RRF because I wanted to help bridge those gaps by connecting people with resources, advocacy, and a community that genuinely cares. My goal is to create something that empowers people rather than defines them by their circumstances.

I didn’t start with significant funding, a large team, or everything figured out. I started with a vision, a passion for helping others, and the belief that meaningful change has to begin somewhere.

“I want my children to grow up knowing that where you come from and what you’ve survived do not determine what you’re capable of becoming. You can still be healing, growing, and rebuilding while creating something meaningful for yourself and others.”

I believe everyone deserves compassion, dignity, and a community that shows up for them, especially during life’s hardest moments.

That’s the heart behind Resilience Reclaimed Foundation.

Together, We Are Reclaiming Resilience.
